CeBIT- More Mac users benefit from Live TV on the iPhone

South San Francisco, USA / Munich, Germany - 03 March 2009: At the outset of CeBIT equinux introduces an update of its innovative TV solution for Mac OS X, The Tube. With The Tube 2.9.3 more Mac users can enjoy Live TV on their iPhones and iPod touches, manage their favorite TV shows online and schedule TV recordings on the go.

The Tube supports current TV devices from more manufacturers

The Tube 2.9.3 supports 28 current TV devices, meaning nearly all TV receivers for analog TV and digital free-to-air TV on a Mac are compatible with The Tube. Thus, Mac users no longer need to do without the fully developed iPhone integration and unique community features of The Tube: Stream Live TV to an iPhone, schedule TV recordings online on the go to watch them later and use the integrated TV guide.

Both iPhone Apps, Live TV and TubeToGo, have been reviewed by the German MacLife magazine (04/09) and achieved their highest rating. Both "are excellently integrated within the TV reception on a Mac", says the review.

Newly supported TV devices are the Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Stick, the Terratec Cinergy T USB XXS, and the Elgato TV receivers Eye TV DTT, DTT Deluxe and hybrid. In addition, The Tube 2.9.3 is compatible with the most popular TV tuners from Hauppauge, the market leading producer for TV receivers.

Better channel detection and higher reception quality

By improving channel detection and the TV engine itself, The Tube 2.9.3 delivers drastically improved TV reception. To benefit from these changes, equinux suggests to all users to restart the channel detection after the update.
